Sonovoid® Round Concrete Void Forms

Increased flexibility. Faster construction.

Sonovoid round concrete void forms are an economical solution to constructing roof slabs, bridge decks, beams, piers, and pile projects without sacrificing structural integrity or strength. Made from Sonoco's own recycled paper and adhesives for superior strength, Sonovoid Round forms are engineered for use with cast-in-place and pre-cast concrete.

Innovative and cost-effective round forms

Storage

Sonovoid Round void forms should be kept dry before using. Store in a vertical position or on a platform six inches above ground to avoid moisture.

  • Cover ends to keep out snow or rain.
  • If the form is in position and pouring is delayed, cover with a waterproof tarpaulin.
  • Do not pour concrete if any part of the tube is wet.
Placement
  • Cover ends.
  • Pour concrete to minimize movement of tubes.
  • Vibrating concrete will remove air pockets and allow concrete to fill gaps.
  • Vent tubes over 18” OD to release air and prevent excess pressure.
Spacing and holding down

To prevent flotation and shifting of forms when concrete is poured, lay Sonovoid Round void forms in place and anchor securely.

Applications

Sonovoid Round concrete void forms are an economical way to create voids in concrete floor and roof slabs, bridge decks, beams and piles.

Projects require less concrete, steel and supporting material, without sacrificing structural integrity and strength.

In flat-plate slabs using Sonovoid Round voids, the reduced dead load and increased stiffness of the flat-plate slab may improve overall economy. Voiding flat-plate slabs allows greater design flexibility, permitting longer spans, better utilization of space, and greater freedom in locating partitions. Flush beams can simplify the installation of electrical, plumbing and heating systems. In many cases, construction itself is faster as larger areas can be formed and poured at once using less concrete.

Advantages
  • Exceptional durability for consistent high performance.
  • Available in standard and custom diameters and lengths.*
  • Reduces amount of concrete, steel and supporting members needed in a project, resulting in significant savings in material.
  • Environmentally friendly.

*Lengths are governed by accepting industry tolerances.
